Happy holidays and seasons greetings!! Lets end the year 2019 on the note of love for humanity, care for each other and acceptance for every religion and religious believes. And thats exactly why we chose GOTRO to be Chhayachhobis 2019 year ending screening. Begin the holiday season on a note of unity and love!!
The truth about Kolkata turning into an unsafe city is much talked about. But the scary part is the elderly couples facing constant threat to their safety that makes headlines every day. Gotro starts on this note but sends out a much bigger and intense message. Mukti Debi, a staunch Vaishnavite, lives in an old-world mansion named Gobinda Dham while her son, Anirban, lives overseas. Tareq Ali is a former convict who is now trying to redeem himself and restart his life. He is employed by Mukti Debi as the caretaker of her estate. What follows is a tale of how a mother-son relationship begins to build between Mukti Debi and Tareq, while the former is unaware of his Muslim identity, depicting underlying social issues of the era. Does she like Tariq? Is she going to accept him as she did to others?? Gotro answers all these questions and much more. A timely and extremely relevant movie in a world full of hatred, communal tension and violence, Gotro is a must watch for everyone.
Directed by two of the most successful and powerhouse directors of our time, Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, Gotro is a story of faith, love, and belief.
