2087 Addison Sreet
Tuesdays, 5 - 6:30 pm, 1/12 - 3/16 (10 weeks) Please Note: All Listed Classes and Workshops are Pacific Time. This course will be conducted live via video conferencing. A computer or other device with a webcam and microphone and a reliable internet connection is required. Log-in information will be sent to students before the first class meeting! Do you want to learn how to make a beat? Record your vocals? Record a song? This class is a great way to learn basic recording techniques and functions using GarageBand, a free recording app. In the first few weeks, we will learn how to make funk, pop, hip-hop and neo-soul beats using built-in loops and the sampling app Splice. Then we will explore recording vocals and all the fun things you can do! We’ve designed this class to make you more self-sufficient in creating your songs and demos, saving you time and money in the studio! Students will create their project––either something original or recording along to an imported instrumental track. All students will present the final recorded version of the song to play during the last class meeting. Singers should have some past singing experience and also must have GarageBand (a free app available for both PC and Mac users). REQUIREMENTS: Must have GarageBand either on a desktop computer (Mac or PC) or iPad is ok, must have headphones (nothing fancy even earbuds are fine!)
