SETC conference is an exclusive gathering for teacher educators and affiliated organizations of teacher educators in all disciplines, who are interested in the creation and dissemination of knowledge about the use of technology in education. You are invited to attend and participate in this annual international conference which offer numerous opportunities to share your ideas, applications experiences and establish business or research relations in the field of learning technology for future collaboration. This year’s sessions will look at the changes in the education sector brought by digital disruptions. We welcome all papers on the topic of Education Technology to be presented at SETC 2018. She also was a former Dean of the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University. Dr. Chanita has been elected twice and served consecutive terms as the President of Comparative Education Society of Asia (CESA). Her second term just ended early this year but she is still a member of CESA Board of Directors. Keynote SpeakerDr. Tan Seng CheeActing co-director of the Centre for Research and Development in Learning (CRADLE@NTU) at the Nanyang Technological UniversityAssociate Dean with the Graduate Studies and Professional Learning Office at the National Institute of EducationAssociate Professor TAN Seng Chee is the Acting co-director of the Centre for Research and Development in Learning (CRADLE@NTU) at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and an Associate Dean with the Graduate Studies and Professional Learning Office at the National Institute of Education. He earned his Ph.D. in Instructional Systems from the Pennsylvania State University and joined Nanyang Technological University in 2000. Prior to the appointment in CRADLE, he has taken on different roles related to advancing the use of ICT in education, including the Head of Learning Sciences and Technologies academic group in the National Institute of Education and an Assistant Director in the Educational Technology Division in the Ministry of Education. He has taught courses on instructional design and learning sciences at graduate level and has conducted professional courses for organizations such as MOE and MINDEF. His research interests include Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning, knowledge creation in education, and teacher education. His most recent publications include the edited book “Knowledge Creation in Education” (Springer, 2014) and the co-authored book “Pushing the Frontier: A cohesive system-wide approach to integrating ICT into education.” (Springer, 2017). Keynote SpeakerJim WagstaffCo-founder and managing director of Jam FactoryJim is the co-founder, and Managing Director, of Jam Factory Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based company that works with clients in the areas of consulting, classroom training, online training, and performance coaching primarily serving managers, sales, sales engineering, and channels. Today, Jim also serves as an active board member for Up 2 Speed Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based organization focused on crafting customized learning and development approaches for multinational and global companies. Additionally, Jim is a joint venture partner in Renewtrak, an Australia-based company that has launched a unique platform that enables automated service and software contract renewals, collections, compliance audits, and reporting to be delivered as a “white label” service by vendors, distributors, and partners.Until early 2013, Jim served as an executive board member with CloudFX Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based cloud consultancy, professional services firm, integrator, and broker that is now partly owned and funded by Intel Capital and Cisco Capital. Before co-founding Jam Factory, Jim was Vice-President and General Manager of the data storage business unit of Hewlett Packard for Asia Pacific and Japan. His responsibilities while leading this business unit encompassed all aspects of the organization including sales, pre-sales, channels, marketing, finance, and services. Prior to HP, Jim was at Dell in Shanghai, where he was General Manager of the company’s server, storage, networking, and professional services businesses in Greater China. Jim first joined Dell in 1995 and held various pre-sales, sales, management, and executive roles with the company over the years including responsibility for server, storage, and networking sales as the Director of Advanced Systems in both the United States as well as the Asia-Pacific & Japan regions. Jim has also served as General Manager for Dell’s Southeast Asia and India Commercial (SME) business units. Academic ChairDr. Pedro IsaíasAssociate Professor, Information Management & Information Systems, Universidade Aberta, Portugal, Co-editor of Interactive Technology and Smart Education JournalPedro Isaías is an associate professor at the Universidade Aberta (Portuguese Open University) in Lisbon, Portugal, responsible for several courses and director of the master degree program in Electronic Commerce and Internet since its start in 2003. He holds a PhD in Information Management (in the speciality of information and decision systems) from the New University of Lisbon. Author of several books, book chapters, papers and research reports, all in the information systems area, he has headed several conferences and workshops within the mentioned area. He has also been responsible for the scientific coordination of several EU funded research projects. He is also member of the editorial board of several journals and program committee member of several conferences and workshops. General ChairDr Tan Jing HeeExecutive Director & Chairman of its Academic Board of East Asia Institute of ManagementDr. Tan Jing Hee is an Executive Director of East Asia Institute of Management as well as the Chairman of its Academic Board. He started work as a Retail Manager in a family business dealing with pharmaceutical products, toiletries and film development and processing. Dr Tan went on to become Senior Science Master of a government secondary school. After five years, he re-joined the private sector as a Merchandising Manager of Robinsons Departmental Store, with responsibilities over 6 departments in Menswear Division. In 1973, he joined the Singapore Institute of Management, initially as Information, Publications and Research officer before moving into management development responsibilities. During his 25 years stay in the institute, he helped to build it into the premier HRD organisation in the region. While in SIM, Dr Tan was also involved in establishing enterprise-wide MBO systems in six medium and large organisations in Singapore. In 1987, he co-edited a book on Developing Managers In Asia, published by Addison-Wesley. Dr Tan was the Chief Operating Officer of SIM before leaving it to pursue other interests. In 1994, he wrote doctoral thesis on Developing A Factor Model of Management Work in Singapore, for which he was awarded his Ph.D from Henley Mangement College/Brunel University.
